Rare Mickey Mantle card sells for record $12.6 million

Mantle, one of the most amazing switch-hitters in baseball history, played his whole Major League Baseball

New York Yankees from 1951-68 and was drafted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1974.

The record-breaking card, which has turned into the main games thing unloaded for eight figures

tenderfoot season and was given by the collectible organization Topps in 1952.

The card was brought to Heritage by Anthony Giordano, a waste administration business visionary

New Jersey, who got it for $50,000 in 1991.

Legacy said the card was reviewed a "Mint+ 9.5" out of 10 by Sportscard Guaranty Corporation, which confirms and grades exchanging cards.

"It bears the best characteristics any 1952 Topps can have: wonderful focusing, enrollment and four sharp corners," Ivy said.
